Joined Telstra because of a "good" package deal - but nothing is worth the hassle that we have had with them - incompetent is the best word to describe the service. We have made at least 20 calls to Telstra to sort out various issues such as being quoted the wrong price twice, being put on a 12 month contract instead of 24 and then being charged a $99 termination fee for them to fix their mistake, over $100 of extra charges on the first bill (which we had to dispute and were later removed), sending bills to multiple incorrect account holder names, charging more than was quoted on the phone and in writing several times. Nothing could persuade me to ever use Telstra Clear again.

A jumble of thoughts: - shortest call to get a client service person to pick up the phone: 40 minutes. - Severe throtting during business hours to residential customers (8am to 11pm Monday to Friday my download throughput drops from ~600 kbit/sec to 100 kbit/sec exactly). - Claims from service desk that the internal cabling and router being used were causing problems. All found to be false and all were attempted to be charged for. - Only positive: they now offer static IPv4 addresses (albeit for a small fee). Can't say I will recommend them to anyone, just don't know of any ISP in NZ who is notably better. Sadly it is not a question of who is best, but who sucks the least.

Phoned to address poor broadband speeds and punitive policy of having to buy extra 25GB package and then loosing most of it at end of billing period. Going through repeatedly to Manila where no sensible answers are given is a real drag. There parrot trained support personnel give stock answers and if you insist on discussing with a supervisor you get the 'let them hang on forever' treatment. Trying to get somebody in NZ to discuss this with, appears impossible. Vote with your feet and don't go near TelstraCLear.

I can't wait to change providers and I'm hoping there is one out there that provides good service, good broadband speed, good customer support because Telstra does none of these. I have the whole package with them but I'm particularly annoyed at the fact that they are quick to tell you you have reached your internet quota and they will add another 1gb onto it but when it comes to cell phone charges, they will let you go over your limit and you don't hear a thing. My mistake was giving my teenage son my cellphone and forgetting to tell him about the 500 text limit. Once I got the bill (and my heart finally returned to normal) and told him about the limit he was mortified and very sorry. I spoke to Telstra and I thought as a sign of good faith they might knock something off the $1600 bill but they weren't interested. I'd never gone over the limit, paid my bills on time but that didn't mean nothing. I'm waiting for my contract to finish and am looking at using another ISP, Any suggestions?
