Worst company I ever delt with. It was a huge hassle

    THE BAD:

They often tried to overcharge us, Technical staff generally poor. Internet needed rebooting often and phone line died often. It was constant hassle monthly to sort out problems. I could never trust them.

    THE BOTTOM LINE:

You would be mad to sign up to this company.

    REVIEW:

They were a real hassle from joining to leaving them. When we joined it took a month to find a technical person that knew how to get our internet connection running properly and they unnecessarily had sent out Chorus to check our line, not advising us they were going to charge us over $200 ,so I spent months of hassle to reverse the charge. After Christmas 2012 they suspended our phone and internet account despite being told a week before by telephone and email that it was fully paid and I gave them details of the internet banking. They double charged us for a technical fee that should not have been charged in the first place (our phone line stopped working again). Even for the last account they tried to charge us for the next month rental!

On First-Name Basis With Customer Service

    THE GOOD:

    Cheap I guess.

    THE BAD:

I have had to be in contact with customer service in the last 6 months more times than I would care to mention, so many that I have actually lost count. The line is terrible, our phone goes in and out (mostly out) and the net is horrendously slow and unreliabl

    REVIEW:

Terrible, would not recommend this ISP to anyone. We switched from telstra because of issues we had but it was like diving in a lake cause you were sick of being rained on.

Absolutely horrible provider, I guess the customer service people are nice (I would know, I had to deal with them constantly) but unfortunately being polite won't fix my internet ( a task which they couldn't manage 90% of the time).

I had excruciatingly slow internet and when I rang them about it they basically said "not much we can do, a lot of people are using the internet" and insisted their must be a problem on my end since "everything looks fine from here, you should be getting 12mb/s?" despite how many times I repeatedly said I was getting about 0.05mb/s.

We have had my cousin (who is a technician) in to try and fix it and he said that there is absolutely nothing wrong on our end, it's all them.

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD YOU USE THIS ISP. I CANNOT ACCURATELY EXPRESS MY DISDAIN IN 1500 CHARACTERS.

Final review: Definitely not worth the money. They couldn't pay ME to put up with this shit.

    Really Bad Choice

    THE GOOD:

Tech staff were very helpful to a certain extent but did not pass on the information to credit staff.

    THE BAD:

Not answering the phone for help with wrong account charges. Cutting us off before due date and charging us for an early disconnection fee. Sending us a final notice with all kinds of threats if we did not pay within 5 days which was completely wrong.

    THE BOTTOM LINE:

I would not wish this company on anybody, having said this the tech staff are great. Not sure how the morale is there with these people. It certainly isn't a team effort by all concerned especially the credit control area, they are totally useless and have no idea of how to do business and talk to people, they should all be sacked! A total lack of communication within this company and with their clients made us leave.

    REVIEW:

We never actually got the plan we wanted. We wanted the basic phone and broadband package offered ($69.95) with no phone line maintainence, they charged us anyway, they were supposed to come out to check phone lines using a local company, that never happened. Our phone line was so bad at times we had to hang up because of the echo and interference.

Dear Compass, 1995 wants it's Kbps back. Thanks.

    THE BAD:

Slow speeds, struggles with low quality YouTube video.

There have been three occasions where mystery charges appeared on my bill.

Getting connected took almost two months taking into account the weeks of intermittent downtime.

    Constant DNS issues.

    THE BOTTOM LINE:

Really bad. Not a company I'd recommend doing business with.

    THE BAD:

    - Customer Service is absolute rubbish
    - Website is dated and hard to navigate

    REVIEW:

What a joke Compass is. I am on their $79.95/m Mammoth Unlimited plan. Although this sounds like a great deal, you get what you pay for. I have been with them for the last year and have always had trouble. It wasn't so bad until we moved out to Coatesville around six months ago. Our speed has always been dismal and only seems to becoming gradually worse.

I put up with it for a while, but then I lodged my first complaint about three months ago and next to nothing has been done since then. Our DL speed on an average afternoon/night is around 0.5-1.5mbps. Absolute rubbish. You can't even load a poor quality youTube clip with this speed. I have called time and time again, sitting on hold for about 15mins each time to try and get through to an operator.

Once you do, they almost seem to care less, but they tell you that 'they will contact Chorus' to resolve the issue and they will call you back. They seldom do the latter and doubt if they have ever done the former. I have to say that Kerry from tech support has by far been the most pleasant to deal with and really seems to want to help, but I can't always get through to him. The other monkeys just blame Chorus, or telecom, or the price of eggs in China. Guess what Compass? I pay YOU, not THEM, for my internet. SORT IT OUT!

On numerous occasions they have told me the problem lies at their end, that I have done everything I can to try and resolve this, and that I SHOULD be receiving up around the 13mbps DL speed in my area. So obviously they know this yet have chosen to avoid it for the last three months, while I'm stuck in the 90's with my dial up speed paying broadband prices. I wouldn't be so annoyed if I received an email or a phone call every now and again following up the numerous problems I have had, but they never do.

Please, do yourself a favour. Avoid Compass like the plague and go for a decent Telco like Orcon. I wish I payed the $20 extra PLUS you get an IP phone as well.

    All round crap service...

    THE GOOD:

There was two people on the customer service team (out of the 10+ that I spoke to) that were actually helpful, so good luck to them working with a team like that.

    THE BAD:

Nothing about this service was satisfactory... extremely disappointed.

    THE BOTTOM LINE:

Internet was connected within a week or so (good work!) but a month later the phone line finally worked. Had continuous problems, slow internet, random periods where it would cut out for a few hours. When we rung Compass they had no reason as to why this was happening except for the fact that "oh yeah, that sometimes happens, it will be back working soon enough". We've been trying to cancel our account for three months now. They said it was cancelled in November, great! Until we got a bill for December, then again in Jan. Never ending battle, having to explain the problem to a different person every few weeks when we get a bill for an account that was supposedly cancelled two months ago! Would not recommend Compass to anyone.

    THE BAD:

Everything, from sales to customer care.

    Avoid like the plague

    THE GOOD:

I had access to the internet

    THE BAD:

Slow, I mean terribly slow. When I questioned them as to why my connection speed was so slow they blamed it on my $300 router... yeah right. Worst internet experience I've had in quite some time.

    THE BOTTOM LINE:

I would avoid this broadband provider. They fail to deliver quality broadband like Slingshot, Orcon or even Telecom. Would probably choose Slingshot or Snap over this company. Terrible service, can't directly call them from a cellphone and they don't know what they're talking about when you do. Logging on to "my compass" doesn't show you anything apart from your invoices, according to the details on their I have no broadband connection with them, can't check data usage either.

These guys are crap, i am on mammoth and get download of 1.5mbs to 5.6mbs, router say can go to 9.6mbs, had chorus check and they said is nothing wrong with lines, and should be able to connect at 7.5mbs (they tested), and said your ISP is probably full of crap, i agree my last ISP as this address (and i thought they were crap was(Slingshot) was 11mbs.. Yup their cheap, they customer service is CRAP, their speed is CRAP. considering going back to Slingshot.. I have 2 modems, both connect at same speed, and both worked fine on slingshot at higher speed, i can only assume compass is crap, and throttle the speed (which they deny on site, but tell you when on the phone), I bitched yesterday i dropped to 1.5mbs and the guy said they would reset my line, funny enough after 6 hrs my end trying to see if it was me, 30 mins later i was 7.5mbs.. today is 1.5mbs.
