    I requested for a connection 12th May

    REVIEW:

    I requested for a connection 12th May , next day they came back with an email saying either Slingshot have to move line to unbundled or I need to cancel the account with them. I cancelled the account with Slingshot on 16 th May and informed Orcon. Till today 30.5.11 no connection yet. Excuse, Telecom is not providing the port. Rang Telecom they said Orcon has exceeded their quota hence waiting until some body make a move or cancel, Made numerous calls to Orcon . Left with no phone and internet for more than 2 weeks . promised to connect today 30.5.11, fingers crossed.

    REVIEW:

    I call Orcon on Friday to take up their Best Plan Ever. I get quoted a changeover date of 4 May. Sweet. On 6 May that I'm "up and running". No biggie, two days late and everything works just fine - the same as Vodafone service and a fair bit cheaper! Sunshine and butterflies, etc. On Saturday I find that the reason there's been no difference in service is that I'm still on Vodafone, not Orcon, as the transfer wasn't actually done. After two hours on the phone to the call centre I put Orcon details into the modem - net stops working altogether of course. Spend Sunday with phone and no internet. Not much fun but surely it won't get any worse than this? Today (Monday afternoon) Vodafone switch off our phone, but Orcon still haven't turned our phone and Internet on. Hence we have no phone or net service at all. Call Orcon from work phone, who tell me they will get a tech out on Tuesday night at the earliest... Haven't given a rating for connection speed and value - these might well be great - but all I have experience of right now is poor customer service and tech support. Impression given on Friday was that it would be done in a doddle midweek, now we're cut off, partner is furious and I don't know how much Vodafone will bill us for the part month when we should have been with Orcon already...

    REVIEW:

    Second time in a row I have moved house and had no connection, even after Orcon has advised me that i'm 'up and running'. Seriously, it's not that hard to follow a simple street address. Just sayin'.

    With them for 3 months until Christchurch Earthquake

    THE BOTTOM LINE:

    STAY AWAY. We NEVER had good customer service and the billing for internet usage was totally random.

    REVIEW:

    With them for 3 months until Christchurch Earthquake in Feb. We had to leave our house and asked them to terminate the account. Still getting bills 2 months later that they take straight from our card. They are now saying the'll issue a credit " urgently " at the end of May. 3 months later. Totally unsatisfactory. STAY AWAY. We NEVER had good customer service and the billing for internet usage was totally random. Check your account carefully.....

    I recently moved house...

    THE BAD:

    They don't return calls.

    REVIEW:

    I recently moved house. Orcon advised a long time for relocation due to work load at provisioning. They scheduled connection for 12 days after my move. (I gave them 10 days notice before my move date). On the day of promised connection I got a call from the tech saying he couldn't find my unit. Orcon had written down the wrong address. I corrected the tech and he contacted Orcon with correct address. I also confirmed correct address with Orcon and was told connection would me made the next day. It wasn't. DSL was down. Orcon support told me it wasn't down and there was something wrong at my end. Over the next week I made numerous calls to Orcon support where I had to explain the entire saga to each different person as they don't seem to be able log calls from the previous time. They don't return calls either. I keep receiving emails, texts and assurances that my DSL is now up. It isn't. It's now almost a month after my request for relocation.

    Ever since they were bought out Orcon are rubbish!

    THE BAD:

    Their support is non-existant

    THE BOTTOM LINE:

    I will be telling all of our customers to look elsewhere for an ISP

    REVIEW:

    We had a client who had an email issue. (some hacker from Malaysia had brute forced an account and was sending mail from their server). Orcon disabled port 25 from the clients IP address. (sounds fair so far) , they did NOT even call the client to tell them this was happening, We have cleaned up the problem and stopped it from happening again, then advised Orcon we had done this. 3 days later, they still cannot send email! i have phoned Orcons "so called" business support 4 times a day for the last 2 days, still no result.So if you want an over-rated ISP who talk the talk but haven't learnt how to walk yet ..... I will be telling all of our customers to look elsewhere for an ISP, and if they are already with them to move , as soon as possible.

    I was with Orcon for 3 years

    THE GOOD:

    I experienced competent general service

    THE BAD:

    When I had a much more serious error they completely bombed out

    THE BOTTOM LINE:

    So if you want ok service then Orcon is just that but don't expect any technnical assistance as they just don't have it.

    REVIEW:

    I was with Orcon for 3 years. During that time I experienced competent general service but when I had a much more serious error they completely bombed out. They took over a year to finally suggest I might have a wiring problem in the house. I got someone from Chorus to check it out and yes I did. Only then to my horror did I realise that Orcon had not signed me up for a wiring contract to telecom. So if you want ok service then Orcon is just that but don't expect any technnical assistance as they just don't have it.
