    Nothing but trouble since day one

    THE BAD:

    Being left without service for over a week, constantly not receiving incomming calls and being overcharged every month.

    Always had problems with Orcon

    THE BAD:

    They say they are 100% NZ, but everytime I spoke to them on the phone, I got someone who doesn't know english very well.

    REVIEW:

    Always had problems with Orcon. I sent emails and even rang them up on a few occasions, just to get an answer. I had Telecom on the other phoneline at the time, and that worked perfectly, only problem was that, Telecom had very low data caps. I stayed with Orcon due to their data cap size for a year or so, until I found another ISP that provided the same amount. Always had low speeds of 150KB/s on ADSL2+ (1600KB/s) and connection drop outs. They say they are 100% NZ, but everytime I spoke to them on the phone, I got someone who doesn't know english very well. Each email came back with a template response. Their website is just a false image.

    I was loyal Orcon customer for many years

    THE BAD:

    Since Kordia took over in 2007, it I believe their performance and support has steady declined to such an unacceptable level.
    Their constant auto emails asking "how we doing?" was very annoying.

    THE BOTTOM LINE:

    The last straw for me was being regularly overcharged this year for mobile data I didn't actually use.

    REVIEW:

    I was loyal Orcon customer for many years but since Kordia took over in 2007, it I believe their performance and support has steady declined to such an unacceptable level that I fired them. Whenever I called Orcon to report slow speeds and dropouts, I found their customer service to be unresponsive with an indifferent attitude, even admitting on more than one occasion that they were simply swamped with other complaint calls. Chorus cabinetised the Howick area not too long ago, but Orcon did not tell us that an upgrade was possible - instead choosing to leave us on a hopeless Howick exchange line that had terrible attenuation and noise problems (56db). The last straw for me was being regularly overcharged this year for mobile data I didn't actually use - according to Orcon this was caused due to a bugs in their billing system. This took several weeks to resolve (I eventually received a refund to my credit card weeks after I'd already left Orcon). Also their constant auto emails asking "how we doing?" was very annoying.

    I am on Orcon's LLU network with phone & broadband

    THE GOOD:

    Under 10 minutes from sending email, fault fixed.

    REVIEW:

    I am on Orcon's LLU network with phone & broadband (not Genius) but with a Genius modem. Had an incoming phone fault the other day so sent an email to their support desk. Got a shock/surprise when within 5 minutes my modem resync'd and then got email from Orcon, they had done a remote port reboot, problem solved. Under 10 minutes from sending email, fault fixed.

    Orcon's helpdesk doesnt exist

    no one will pick up your call, no one will respond to your emails.

    REVIEW:

    Orcon's helpdesk doesnt exist - no one will pick up your call, no one will respond to your emails. I m having a billing problem which they overcharged me for 2 months, but couldnt contact anyone! Internet speed is good if its working though.

    Orcon has the absolute worst customer service

    THE BAD:

    The hold time to talk to anyone is at least an hour.

    THE BOTTOM LINE:

    AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS

    REVIEW:

    Orcon has the absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced. It takes them weeks to reply to online enquiries. The hold time to talk to anyone is at least an hour. They changed our phone number without telling us. It has been weeks and we still don't have an explanation or solution. AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS

    If you want good service then KEEP AWAY FROM ORCON.

    REVIEW:

    Good connection speeds but limited by not being able to use a local cabinet. Check that Orcon have access to your local cabinet. Customer service is appalling. Like most telcos they are quick to sign you up but terrible at answering support calls. Waits of over 20 minutes, unanswered support tickets, unreturned calls despite being promised. If you want good service then KEEP AWAY FROM ORCON. It a shame because they are a stated owned telco and could have done so much better.

    I've been an Orcon customer for 10 years now

    THE BAD:

    I've moved house with Orcon in the last 12 months, and yet again it's a nightmare.

    THE BOTTOM LINE:

    Avoid Orcon like the plague.

    REVIEW:

    I've been an Orcon customer for 10 years now, and this is the second time I've moved house with Orcon in the last 12 months, and yet again it's a nightmare. I booked the move over 2 weeks ago, rang twice on Friday to check all was going ahead (since it was booked for Friday) and sure enough, nothing. I was promptly disconnected, but not connected at the new house. I've made dozens of calls to Orcon's helpdesk talking to people who seem to know nothing and simply send me back to their main switchboard where I have to start all over. I've had two different people at their call centre promised to call me back and haven't. There's no follow up, seemingly a total lack of proper communication with Chorus. My previous move in July last year left me with THREE WEEKS without any phone or internet. I've had enough of Orcon's incompetent connections team and incompetent call centre, I'm now looking for a new ISP.Avoid Orcon like the plague.

    When I ordered Genious they were slow to install

    Had a few minor faults, then more recently had two faults where my service was down for 6 days out of 10.

    THE BOTTOM LINE:

    They don't give a stuff about their customers

    When I ordered Genious they were slow to install, took about 3 weeks. Had a few minor faults, then more recently had two faults where my service was down for 6 days out of 10. Thats both phone and internet. Getting a person on the faults desk was hopeless, waiting 30-40 minutes listening to music before being cut off. finall getting through and then waiting one to 2 days for tech. Finally after the fault was fixed the second time I asked about a credit and was told I'd only been down 3 days not 6 out of the 10, check my usaegablahblahblah. I think I know how many days I coudn't use my internet and phone, both times over a weekend. Bottom line they don't give a stuff about their customers.
