    THE BAD:

    Support is TERRIBLE

    THE BOTTOM LINE:

    AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

    REVIEW:

    Signed up with them, unlimited (Mammoth pan). All good for th first month. Second month, I'm starting to get crap speeds (2, 3 Mbps Down). Support is TERRIBLE, you wait for ever on the phone. They said there was a problem on the line hence the speeds, I kept calling for a month until I had enough. I switched to Snap, got connected in like 5 hours, and guess what, speeds of 14, 15 Mbps... AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

    Do not go near this company...

    THE BOTTOM LINE:

    I don't need to tell them to go to hell, they are already there.

    REVIEW:

    Do not go near this company - you will get sucked into a vortex to hell. Signed up with them and heard nothing for 3 weeks. 3 phone calls and hours of waiting just to find out when I will get connected. On connection day nothing happens. More calls. 3 days later I get landline calls out but none in. Next day full landline but no internet. Spend 3/4 hour waiting for techo to help configure modem. Get connected but really slow speeds. Connection dies after 6 hours. Call techo, who seems to be at a party, gauging on all the noise in the background. He couldn't help and suggests it's my modem. Get my mate to test modem and nothing is wrong. Ring techo the next day leave a call back message. Get rung back 23 hours later. Techo resets my connection and says it's been Compass fault all along. Internet dies after 4 hours. Reboot modem, get connected but internet dies after 10 mins. Next morning internet on again but very slow. Complain to customer service via my work email and say I'm going to terminate my contract. Get all my services cut off the next day, threatened with early termination and told customer services will ring back within the next 20 working days to resolve the issue - I don't need to tell them to go to hell, they are already there.

    Should have never signed up with this company, service is bad, instructions for set up were wrong (although one tech was great WHEN we did get through). They never sent anyone out to check phone line as promised. Internet keeps dropping off & email is off and on, shame on you for making promises that don't happen.

    THE BOTTOM LINE:

    STAY AWAY FROM COMPASS

    REVIEW:

    The most disgusting and appalling service we have ever experienced. Faulty phone and internet services and terrible customer service. We were without a working phone and internet for a month and spent hours of our own time and a lot of our own money chasing the company to get help. Their system of leaving a message to "retain your place in the queue" is an absolute farce. We have never been called back on that system. After months of stress and faulty services we cancelled our contract with Compass. We couldn't take the incompetence any longer. Noone was interested in helping us and yet they were very quick to demand payment. Now, they are trying to charge us a $99 fee for ending our contract before 24 months and also that they require 30 days notice of which we have to pay. We have repeatedly tried to resolve the situation and all we get is an automated response and repeated threats to pay. What they are doing is against the Consumer Guarantees Act and also the Telecommunications Dispute Resolution of which Compass is a member. Their actions beggar belief and we intend now to go to Fair Go over this issue - enough is enough. We have left Compass and they are still giving us grief. We can't believe they seem to get away with this time and time again. Anyone looking for a service provider - STAY AWAY FROM COMPASS. They are DISGUSTING.

    I wish I had found this page before I made the terrible mistake of changing to compass. Seriously considering contacting the commerce commission. I asked for a written contract which showed agreed rates, nothing showed, received a text saying they were changing me the following day, i phoned to stop - no reply for over an hour, so sent 2 texts to the text I received canceling. again nothing - next thing i know my broadband was cut off. Appalling and I would say fraudulent service - AVOID AVOID AVOID

    THE GOOD:

    If you are thinking of signing up to compass I would recommend it.

    THE BOTTOM LINE:

    In the end I'm really happy with my unlimited data full speed connection at a really good price.

    REVIEW:

    I had seen compass advertising their services online, I googled reviews and found this site. I was obviously a little hesitant to sign up given the bad reviews from frustrated customers however I contacted them directly and informed them of this review site and the bad feedback their customers have been giving. Their response was they had made several changes to the way they operate their business and improvements have been made in several areas. Still hesitant I was offered an option to signup without a contract with the option to close the account when I wanted as they wanted to prove to me there would be no issues. I'm quite happy to say they have gone above and beyond what most ISP's do when signing up new customers. My connection was provisioned from my former ISP to compass after 2 weeks of filling out the online signup forms (all be it with a slight delay caused by chorus that was out of compass's control.). the connection was swapped on the confirmed RFS date. My connection did not work straight away however they rang me the same night after logging a fault and the issue was resolved quickly and easily. If you are thinking of signing up to compass I would recommend it, however keep in mind they don't have the monopoly power and 100's of call centre staff that some of the other large isp's do, so I would suggest contacting them directly in advance to discuss any concerns you might have. In the end I'm really happy with my unlimited data full speed connection at a really good price. I have received callback support after hours from their friendly staff within 10 minutes of logging a fault so I am quite impressed with their service.

    REVIEW:

    Further to my comments last year, I see that Compass have not improved their service at all, after reading the most recent comments on this site. I wrote to Compass again demaniding a breakdown of all their costs that they were trying to charge me after I went back to Telecom, including a copy of the contract I had supposedly signed stating that I agreed to paying a disconnection fee. I haven't heard back from Compass since then, so my advice is, do not pay them any such nonsense fees.

    Don't bother. Pay a little more and go with anyone else.

    REVIEW:

    Systematic failure personified! This company is has made the act of providing internet service a calamity. Their sign up process is so elaborate and involved that their employees stumble and fall at every unnecessary step. 5 weeks and 23 calls with a total of over 6 hours (most spent on hold) is what I endured all the while thinking "I'm almost there!" Don't bother. Pay a little more and go with anyone else.
