    I rang and they said I will not have to pay a start up fee. They asked if they can do a credit cheak I said sure im not in debt and up to date with my bills. They rang back and said that no credit history shows for me. I said thats a good thing im not in debt. They said thats ok but we need you to pay a start up fee and a month in advance for security. I said ok send me a bill illpay. NO she said you have to pay now over the phone with credit card or debit card. I dont have any I dont plan on getting any either. She then told me to ask my family or friends to pay it with theirs and I could pay them back or go buy me a debit card and get back to them. I said no.
    She was rude and butted in. Orcon should not penalize me for having good credit. They shouldnt of said there is no payyments till first bill. When they ask for credit check they should tell you if there is no history or you have a bad credit history that you have to pay with credit card right away. that call was enough to put me off.

    - CONS: Customer service is bad.

    A company like Orcon (Kordia) should have better Customer Service training. No one takes responsibility, Even a letter from the Head of Credit carries no name, nor a signature! Incredible that this is part of Kordia.
    No recommendation from me………. already warned 2 friends of the 2 month free trap, incompetent tech service and even worse accounts department

    - CONS: start off with no phone connection. within 2 days internet brakes down. tech support ignores advice on faulty router and fiddles for 3 weeks....... then sends replacement router!!! false advertising: offers 2 months free , but then charges anyway!!!

    I should advise potential customers of the absolutely terrible customer service (that is from the company itself, not necessarily the people) from this ISP, and to say that I definitely do not recommend them to ANYONE. A few weeks before xmas our phone and broad band were disconnected with out any advice from Orcon. After about 3-4 weeks of no service and literally hours of time spent on the phone being told the problem was being ‘sorted out’, we were finally told that ‘we no longer service your area’. This has possibly been the worst customer service experience I have ever had. We have now lost our phone number and are left scratching our heads as to why anyone would actually sign up with these guys!???

    + PROS: Reasonable price and package, and when it's running the service is ok.
    - CONS: Lack of company communication with customers. Seemingly dysfunctional internal communications systems. Will disconnect you with out any notice and leave you 'high and dry'

    My poor mother tried to leave Orcon in April l2012 and even though receiving service from Telstra, heer new ISP, Orcon continued ti debit $70 monthly from her Bank Account.
    It wasn’t until I checked her Bill Payments on line that this error was discovered, and then the nightmarish job of getting her money refunded began.]
    Endless and pointless calls to various people in the Phillipines, the only way I could obtain any satisfaction for my 86 year old mother was to contact Disputes Resolution Services in Wellington for some action.
    Finally in December 2012 the refund cheque was received after orcon had the use of her money for over 6 months.

    Internet access is part of our lives poor service is not acceptable

    I would never recommend this ISP and I am now looking to change.

    + PROS: Call center in Manila gives good basic support short wait times
    - CONS: Told as my problem is a "level 2" I should expect to be contacted within 24 to 48hr. After no contact for 48hrs called them back and was told that it was48 business hrs. So including the weekend it could be 9 Days before local contact, not a fix.

    I asked if I was calling overseas support center. They said yes. Honestly, outsourcing is OK but at least you should get the hotline staff some trainings about the basic about the planet earth.

    - CONS: They know nothing! I told them my email is xxxxx@yahoo.co.nz on the phone , then their hotline staff always put yahoo.net.nz instead.

    It is definitely the worst version of customer service any new customer can get these days.
    All I received was an email with a few words: ” call our phone center to sort this out”.
    What??? I don’t think they know anything about customer service. I wish I could vote ZERO star for their services.
    I am a new customer and this kind of attitude is telling me that they don’t care now and won’t.

    - CONS: I had joined Arcon unlimited broadband plan through their website. After 11 days, 3 follow-up emails and a phone call to them, I still had never received a single confirmation email about my application. It was a total disaster for any customer with a sense.

    Orcon has today fired almost all of its Auckland-based contact centre staff, and shipped its entire service centre off to the Philipines. Three hour wait times are the norm now!

    I’ve been loyal to this company for years, but not anymore. Not after they fired almost all of their New Zealand staff, right before Christmas. The whole point of being with Orcon was supporting a NZ operated company, and knowing you were supporting OUR economy. Frankly their product has been unstable for a while, and now that I know every time I ring I’ll have a three hour wait and will get someone not even in my own country, my loyalty is GONE.

    I’ve always had excellent service from Orcon. Their customer service is amazing and helpful, and their broadband service is fast and reliable. I signed up as they didn’t have long-term contracts and I’ve had problems with other providers in the past so wanted to be able to change easily if I wasn’t happy with their service, but three years later I still don’t want to leave.

    Have had nothing but fantastic service, modem had arrived and all ready to go before I had even moved in!! Have always had excellent phone service and very helpful staff on the phone, even when it was my error, they were helpful…….would and have recommended them to all.     I’ve used Orcon’s web site to switch between various services and packages over the last four years, and have had no issues whatsoever. Their technical and financial support staff have always been knowledgeable, competent and friendly. I regularly investigate other ISPs to see if I can get a better deal, but Orcon has always come out on top.

    OK, so I am not a techy, really only use the web for email, facebook and bit of shopping. Been with Orcon for 5 months and so far it has been a good relationship, a couple of issues and these were both sorted quickly by a helpful support team.

    I’ve been with Orcon for 4 years and am now on Genius which has saved me a small fortune. I have called them twice with support issues and although getting through to someone is a challenge they offer great products, service and support.

    I’ve just upgraded to an Orcon Genius, and couldn’t be happier. Faster, a larger data cap, and cheaper than before. Technical support have always come through (but do sometimes need a tickle…)

    Have been connected to Orcon for approximately 5 months now. From my online connection application, to writing this review today, I have not had one single issue with Orcon’s service. Initial connection went smoothly, phone line crystal clear, broadband speed good, and they have an awesome, easy to use website for management of account and general information. Only regret … should have connected to Orcon earlier!

    I have treid a few, but in end came back to Orcon… Knowlegable and always friendly and helpful staff. Best plans I have had to date and speed and over internet phone quality is just great. Connection speed and outages is more often in the hands of Chorus, not Orcon.
